MP Hasnain Masoodi accuses Central Govt of threatening India's federal structure

JAMMU: Member of Parliament Hasnain Masoodi accused the Central dispensation, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), of making deliberate attempts to dismantle the foundational pillars of India’s federal structure. Expressing deep concern over the perceived threats to the country’s constitutional integrity, he highlighted the gravity of the situation, asserting that the actions of the ruling government pose a significant risk to the core principles that underpin India’s federal framework.

He stated this while speaking at the meeting of the Party’s Legal Cell organized at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan here today. The meeting was convened by Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President JKNC, Jammu, and was chaired by Adv Dinesh Singh Chouhan, Provincial Chairman, Legal Cell, JKNC, Jammu Province.

Expressing deep apprehensions, Masoodi accused the ruling dispensation of pursuing policies that undermine the federal fabric of the nation, endangering the principles that have long been the cornerstone of Indian democracy. He emphasized the urgent need to address the challenges posed to India’s constitutional integrity. He underscored the gravity of the situation, stating that the very essence of the country’s federal structure is under severe threat. He emphasized the urgent need for a unified response to safeguard the democratic values enshrined in the Constitution.

The Senior NC leader exhorted members of Party’s Legal Cell to recognize the severity of the issue and work collectively to counteract any measures that could weaken the democratic foundation of the nation. He underscored the growing concerns regarding the preservation of India’s federal structure and the imperative for a concerted effort to uphold the country’s democratic ideals.

Ajay Kumar Sadhotra Additional General Secretary and former minister, emphasized the need for a public-friendly attitude within the legal fraternity. He called for a public-friendly attitude within the legal sphere reflects the party’s dedication to ensuring that legal processes are perceived as approachable and supportive for all citizens.

Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President, JKNC, Jammu, asked the members of Party’s Legal Cell to proactively engage at the grassroots level and provide assistance to individuals ensnared in illegal litigation due to the hollow policies of the present regime. He emphasized the critical role of the Legal Cell in addressing the legal challenges faced by the common people.

Nasir Aslam Wani, Provincial President, JKNC, Kashmir, stressed the crucial role that lawyers must play in defending the Constitution and the federal structure. He urged the lawyer fraternity to recognize the imminent threats and join hands in safeguarding the democratic values that have defined the country’s political landscape.

D.S Chauhan, President, Legal Cell, JKNC, said that lawyers being as social engineers are deeply connected with the public through litigants. He emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between the legal community and the public, recognizing lawyers as pivotal figures in understanding and addressing the issues faced by the people. He stressed the need to effectively communicate the policies of the National Conference to the public, underscoring the party’s commitment to inclusive governance and social justice. He assured the public that, if the party is voted to power, the concerns and problems of the people would be promptly addressed, offering a prospect of relief to the citizens.

Ch. Naseem Liaquet Ali, Chairman DDC Rajouri and Syed Asim Hashmi, DDC Member Doda also spoke in the meeting.

Later, Adv Joginder Singh, Registrar Rtd, J&K High Court, along with another advocate also joined the party fold in presence of senior functionaries of the Party.
