DHEW, Social Welfare Department celebrate National Girl Child Day at Reasi

REASI, JANUARY 25: The Department of Social Welfare Reasi under the guidance and supervision of the Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan celebrated National Girl Child Day with great enthusiasm and zeal under the aegis of the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” Abhiyan.

The commemoration kicked off on January 19, 2024 with a Pledge ceremony to protect  and educate the girl child, symbolizing the commitment to secure a brighter and equitable future for them.

Further enriching the celebration, the Team of District Hub for Empowerment of Women organized a special Mahila Sabha on CSR and child protection and other schemes meant to promote skills among girls.

As part of the ongoing activities, a workshop on menstrual hygiene management, PCPNDT Act and skill development schemes was organised in which a large number of Supervisors/AWW’s/officials of DHEW and OSC were sensitized by speakers from DHEW/OSC and Mission Poshan in the presence of District Programme officer and District Social Welfare Officer.

As a visual representation of this commitment, hoardings bearing messages from the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative were affixed at prominent locations across the District. The initiative aims to raise awareness and encourage collective responsibility in nurturing and supporting the aspirations of the girl child.

The celebration culminated at a district-level felicitation ceremony, where outstanding girl children were felicitated by the Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan for their achievements in the field of sports, education etc. This recognition will serve as an inspiration for other young girls to dream big and strive for excellence.
