December 29: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 04 drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
A police party of Police Station Qazigund during patrolling near R&B office intercepted two suspicious persons identified as Ravinder Singh son of Gurmekh Singh & Satean Singh son of Karnal Singh both residents of Jagrawan Ludhiana, Punjab carrying nylon bags. During search, officers were able to recover 11 Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance from their possession.
Moreover, a police party headed by Incharge Police Post Mirbazar established a special checkpoint at Alstop intercepted a vehicle (Auto Load Carrier) bearing Registration No JK18B-4430 with 02 persons onboard. They have been identified as Aarif Ahmad Malla son of Azimu din Malla resident of Domidulla Tujan, Anantnag & Jasweer Singh son of Bagh Singh resident of Pandoola Jalandar, Punjab. During checking, officers were able to recover 25 grams of Heroin like contraband substance from their possession.
All the accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Qazigund and further investigation have been initiated.
