January 29: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested two drug peddlers in Anantnag and recovered huge consignment of contraband substances from their possession.
Police Station Srigufwara received an information through reliable sources that two brothers namely Peer Asif Rashid and Peer Tawseef Rashid sons of Peer Ab Rashid residents of K-Klan Srigufwara has indulged in drug peddling and have hoarded large quantity of narcotic substance in their residential house. Accordingly, case under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Srigufwara and investigation was taken up.
On receipt of this information, a police party alongwith Executive Magistrate concerned raided the said house. During search, about 09 Kgs of graded Cannabis leaves and 12 codeine phosphate bottles were recovered from the said house which was seized on spot and accused were arrested. Further investigation in the case is going on.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against menace drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
