DC reviews status of ongoing development projects in Samba District

SAMBA, JANUARY 30: District Development Commissioner Samba Abhishek Sharma today chaired a meeting in his office chamber to assess the progress of ongoing developmental works and the estimation process for new projects.

The review encompassed varied aspects, with a keen focus on addressing issues hindering project implementation.

The DC expressed concern over projects where tenders have been allotted but work has not commenced. Stressing the importance of timely execution, he directed immediate initiation of pending projects to ensure their timely completion.

Furthermore, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for the saturation of water supply schemes and instructed the sharing of block-wise lists of incomplete Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) schemes. He directed the concern to provide proper feedback on ground regarding the schemes.

Attention was drawn towards the slow progress of works by contractors. He also expressed concern over the slow progress under the PM Vishwakarma and called for effective Mobilisation under the scheme.

A significant aspect of the meeting involved discussions on convergence of various plans with MGNREGA etc. The DC reviewed the progress of the HADP and the status of the ongoing Yuva Vani Program, expressing the need for continuous prioritization.

IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) strategies were underscored for the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), JJM, Svanidhi Scheme, PMJAY schemes, PM Kisan Yojna etc. The DC stressed on saturation of schemes especially PM Vishavkarma, HADP, JJM etc. would be prioritized.

The Departments were tasked with submitting an Action Taken Report on issues raised during Block Diwas/Public Darbar, with specific attention to land availability for approved projects such as school and panchayat ghars.

The DC sought updates on development projects under the Border Area Development Programme (BADP) schemes, including the construction of bunkers for the safety and well-being of border area residents.

Additionally, the meeting addressed forest-related issues across departments. The Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Samba, Rajinder Singh, was directed to conduct a comprehensive review of these matters. Besides, the progress of special drives by employment department for the WPR was also sought with the directed to increase the progress on the issue.

ADDC Samba Rajinder Singh, POICDS Samba Dr. Subash, CPO Samba Kasturi Lal, CMO Samba Vidhi Butiyal, DMO Samba Mohd. Sayeed and other district officers were also present.
