POONCH, JANUARY 9: In preparation for the upcoming Gurupurab, District Development Commissioner Yasin M. Choudhary today presided over a meeting in the conference hall of the DC office.
The meeting aimed to review the arrangements and address the concerns related to the festivities commemorating the Prakash Diwas of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
During the meeting, the line departments were asked to outline their respective arrangements. These included transportation, water and power supply, sanitation, medical facilities, and other essential amenities within and around the Gurudwaras during the celebration.
The president of DGPC, Narinder Singh informed that the Nagar Kirtan of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji will be held on January 15 and the Akhand Path of Shri Guru Granth Sahib will commence on January 15 while the main function will be held on January 17, 2024.
Prominent citizens and religious heads present at the meeting raised important issues regarding the observance of Gurupurab. They emphasized the need for adequate drinking water, power supply, sanitation, security arrangements, medical facilities, and the installation of barricades for the performance of martial arts (Gatka) at the college ground, among other concerns.
To ensure a smooth flow of traffic and prevent inconvenience to devotees, the Traffic Department was directed to manage and regulate traffic effectively. The Police department was also instructed to deploy additional personnel to enhance security arrangements.
The Health department was urged to provide sufficient medical support and maintain standby emergency ambulance services at the major congregation venues.
The DC instructed the District Information Department to arrange for the Public Address System (PAS) during the Nagar Kirtan, a religious procession.
Additionally, the CEO of the Municipality was tasked with ensuring cleanliness in and around the Gurudwaras.
The Public Health Engineering and Power Development Departments were directed to guarantee uninterrupted water and power supply, respectively.
The meeting concluded with the attendees expressing various concerns and suggestions related to the event’s organization. The provision of drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, sanitation, security arrangements, medical facilities, and the smooth conduct of martial arts performances were reiterated as crucial aspects requiring attention.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Vinay Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Zaheer Ahmed Kaifi, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anees Altaf Nabi, District Information Officer, Vishaldeep Chandan, Assistant Director of Food & Supply, Waheed Ahmed, Xen PDD Altaf Hussain, Xen PHE Riaz Ahmed, Headquarters Assistant (Tehsildar) Jahangir Hussain, retired Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdul Hamid (Social Activist), Naib Tehsildar Randhir Singh, Inspector MC Abdul Rehman, representatives from the Fire Emergency department, as well as prominent citizens, advocates, and religious heads. Present at the meeting were President of DGPC Narinder Singh, President of SDS Khetar Paul, President of Dashnami Akhara Harbans Lal, President of Bagichi Mandir Amarnath Sharma, Joint Secretary of DGPC Gurcharan Singh, Surjan Singh and Kuldeep Singh from DGPC, DGPC Member Manjeet Singh, along with their respective members.
